Olushola Bello

The Senate has confirmed Idris Ibikunle Olorunnimbe as Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) after he successfully scaled through screening by the Senate Committee on Communications. His confirmation came during plenary, where the upper chamber adopted the committee’s report without objection.

Also confirmed as Commissioners of the NCC were Maryam Bayi (North East), Senator Ramoni Olalekan Mustafa (South West), and Ikechukwu Ugwuegede (South East). Their approval completes a significant portion of the Commission’s governing structure as Nigeria continues to strengthen oversight of its telecommunications sector.

Other newly confirmed board members include Princess Oforitsenere Emiko (South South) and Christopher Sandy Okorie (South South), both of whom were commended by lawmakers for their professional backgrounds and contributions during screening.

The Chairman and new Commissioners will join previously confirmed top executives of the Commission—Executive Vice Chairman Aminu Maida (North West), Executive Commissioner of Technical Services, Engineer Abraham Oshadami (North Central), and Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management, Rimini H. Makama (North Central)—to form the full Board of the NCC.

The confirmation was formally announced in a statement signed by Mrs. Nnenna Ukoha, Head of Public Affairs,NCC.
