Oil and Gas: SPENAICE 2025 Will Host Technical Sessions and Exhibitions That Demonstrate Solutions —SPE President

 Olushola Bello

…Over 4,000 participants, 80 exhibitors and two high level leadership panel sessions

Over 4,000 participants from across Nigeria and the global energy ecosystem, more than 80 exhibiting companies showcasing cutting-edge solutions, and two high-level leadership panel sessions, alongside youth and family programs, technical courses, and social engagements will  be participating in this year’s Society of Petroleum Engineers, Nigeria Chapter’s 2025 annual Conference and Exhibition.

SPENAICE 2025 comes at a critical moment for Nigeria’s energy industry—a moment of transition, opportunity, and responsibility, so says the President of the association, Dr. Amina Danmidanmi.

The 2025 Theme – A Blueprint for Nigeria’s Energy Future

According to Dr Danmidanmi who addressed a journalist to herald the take off she said “Our theme this year, Building a Sustainable Energy Future: Leveraging Technology, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and Policy,” is a call to action for our industry and our nation.

She said globally, energy systems are transforming under the twin pressures of climate imperatives and technology shifts.

•Locally, Nigeria faces the task of balancing economic growth, energy security, and the global transition to low-carbon solutions.”

“This theme challenges us to connect four critical pillars:

1.Technology:

•From digital oilfields to enhanced recovery,

•From modular gas processing to pipeline surveillance technologies,

•Technology will be the engine of efficiency and sustainability.

2.Supply Chain:

•Strengthening local content,

•Building resilient, cost‑efficient project delivery systems,

•Reducing dependence on imports and FX pressures.

 3.Human Resources:

•Retaining and retooling Nigerian talent in the era of energy transition,

•Providing youth pathways, technical upskilling, and inclusion for women.

 4.Policy:

•Aligning regulatory frameworks with investor confidence,

•Supporting the $1 trillion economy aspiration,

•Ensuring Nigeria’s energy policies are globally competitive and locally relevant.

The SPE President also stated the role of her association  in the Nigeria’s Energy Ambition, especially in her aspiration to achieve $1trillion economy

“Our Role in a $1 Trillion Economy

Today, Nigeria produces around 1.75 million barrels per day of crude oil and condensates.

  • The national target is to grow to 2.7 mbpd by 2030,

•While maximizing our 209 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves as the transition fuel of choice.”

“From an SPE perspective:

•Achieving these targets will require enhanced field recovery, gas monetization, infrastructure reliability, and pipeline security.

•SPENAICE 2025 will showcase technical insights and practical solutions that support Nigeria’s energy security and economic growth goals.”

On the divestment in the industry, she says “Industry Divestment – A Defining Chapter for Local Content”

“Over the past year, Nigeria has witnessed historic divestments by international oil companies from onshore and shallow water assets.

  • This is a defining chapter in our energy story:

•It tests the capacity of indigenous operators,

•It demands retention and redeployment of human capital, and

•It creates opportunities for deepening local content and technical independence.”

SPE Nigeria  she said is responding by:

•Providing neutral platforms for knowledge exchange,

•Equipping professionals for the operational and commercial realities of new asset ownership,

•Fostering collaboration between local operators, service providers, and global technology partners.

Speaking on Gas, Infrastructure, and the Path to Sustainability , she stated that Nigeria’s gas wealth is the bridge to a lower‑carbon economy.

•Gas monetization for power generation and industrial use is essential to our energy security.

•Pipeline infrastructure and processing capacity must expand to capture flare gas, enable exports, and support the domestic market.

What makes SPENAICE 2025 exceptional

This year’s edition is designed to stand apart from every previous NAICE:

1.Top-Level Leadership Panels

•We are bringing together regulators, operators, financiers, and innovators to chart a cohesive energy roadmap.

2.Next-Generation Focus

•Our youth and family programs, including mentorship initiatives, will nurture the engineers and innovators of tomorrow.

3.Technology-Rich Exhibitions

•NAICE2025 is featuring over 80 exhibitors with solutions spanning digital energy, enhanced recovery, and low-carbon operations.

Our promise is simple, she said:

SPENAICE 2025 is where Nigeria’s energy past meets its future—and solutions move from conversation to action.

“With SPENAICE 2025, we are offering stories that matter:

  • Energy transition with Nigerian realities,

•Local content in a new divestment era,

•Technological breakthroughs driving economic transformation,

•Pathways to the $1 trillion economy vision.

NAICE is more than a conference. It is West Africa’s premier meeting point for energy innovation, policy dialogue, and professional excellence, she stated.
